In her day, Memela is a class act and popular with fans, but last season, however, she failed to score in 16 Absa Premiership and two cup starts.
Now it’s unclear if he still has a future with the Sea Robbers, as negotiations appear to have hit a snag.
“In the meantime, the Club is still in talks with Luvuyo Memela, 33, to extend his stay at the Club, however, the two parties have yet to reach an agreement,” a statement read on the website. of the Pirates.
The Buccaneers have also been quite busy in the transfer market, bringing in players like Wayde Jooste (Highlands Park), Thabang Monare, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Deon Hotto, Terrence Dzvukamanja (all Bidvest Wits) and Collins Makgaka (Baroka FC).
Hotto, Makgaka, Jooste, and Dzvukamanja are creative attacking players who could keep Memela on the sidelines.
On the other hand, the Soweto side has released attack-minded players like Augustine Mulenga, Justin Shonga, Meshack Maphangule and Augustine Mahlonoko.
In other club news, the Pirates have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Joris Delle, while talks with Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori continue to drag on.
“After spending a year in South Africa, Delle submitted a written request citing his inability to adjust to his new environment and wants to return to Europe,” a previous statement confirmed.
“The club met with the player this morning and has agreed to the request of the 30-year-old.”
Meanwhile, defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza, 30, signed a three-year contract extension.
