CAPE TOWN – Orlando Pirates says the law must run its course after midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch was arrested on domestic violence charges on Monday.
Lorch was arrested Monday morning and released on bail of R2,000 in the afternoon.
In a statement, The Buccaneers say they strongly condemn violence against women and children, but are not in a position to comment on the matter because it is a police investigation.
“This matter is currently in the hands of the authorities. As a club, we cannot comment further, except to say that we condemn all forms of violence, especially violence against women and children, ”the Buccaneers said in a statement.
“We support the rights of each and every person, but we strongly condemn violence.
“This country has witnessed some of the most gruesome cases of gender-based violence and we do not take this matter lightly, however, we must respect the process undertaken by the authorities and allow the law to take its course.”
