Have you ever experienced that awkward moment when you walk into a party and see a girl in the exact same outfit that you are wearing?

Can you imagine this happening on a red carpet and being the star of the show?

Nomzamo Mbatha and Boity Thulo may not have been to the same event at the same time, but they wore the exact dress on very public and memorable occasions.

On Saturday, Mbatha, who hosted the Miss South Africa pageant, wore a one-shoulder turquoise velvet dress, adorned with silver sequins and beads with a thigh-high slit that showed off her toned legs.

It wasn’t long before the fashion police noticed the resemblance between Mbatha’s dress and the one worn by rapper Boity Thulo just a month ago in the ad campaign promoting his new fragrance, Boity Pink Sapphire.

On closer inspection, it is apparent that it IS exactly the same dress.

Of course, we can debate who wore it the best, but each of the beauties has their die-hard fans.

But more importantly, how does something like this happen?

If social media watchers could point out the embarrassing misstep, how could neither Mbatha nor her stylist could?

Because, come on, Boity did use it first after all!

The outfit appears prominently in all of their perfume campaigns.

Even the perfume samples show her in a rather different dress.

Designer to the stars, OM Style Avenue’s Orapeleng Modutle, is the creator of the opulent gown, so you’d think stylists would be careful and do their homework when it comes to choosing one of his designs, knowing that he dresses so many celebrities. . .

No matter how you complement an outfit, it doesn’t change the main focus, the actual dress.

Makes one wonder who is to blame when this happens.

Is it the stylist who should do their homework?

Is it the designer who needs to control which celebrities wear their clothes?

Or is it the celebrity who has the last word?
