The chairman of the State Capture Investigation, Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo, says the commission will go to the Superior Court for a three-month extension of the investigation.

The request will seek to push back the completion date from the end of March to June 2021, Zondo said during a press conference Monday.

“All we want is to make up for the three months that we lost as a result of the national shutdown,” Zondo said.

In February this year, Gauteng Superior Court Judge Wendy Hughes granted the commission its final extension, citing that “… no further extensions would be warranted.

“The interest of justice dictates that a purpose be achieved with the findings, recommendations and a report of the commission. The commission owes this to the nation since the work of the commission is in the national interest,” said the judge in that moment.
