ONLY IN | Mabuza distances himself from the case of fraudulent land deals in Mpumalanga

Vice President David Mabuza has denied knowledge of an investigation against him, amid reports of fraud charges brought against ANC deputy Bongani Bongo and 10 others.

These arrests were related to an alleged fraud that took place during 2011 and 2012 in Mpumalanga.

Mabuza, who was prime minister of the province during that time, said in a statement Wednesday that he wanted to “categorically deny any involvement and condemn any attempt to drag his name in any way or capacity to the criminal conduct under investigation.”

The statement said it was not aware of any investigation against him, which had been hinted at in some media reports.

However, he said he would “cooperate with law enforcement agencies in case there are questions that require his response as the person responsible for the province at the time, as the prime minister of Mpumalanga.”
