Ole Gunnar Solskjaer complains after Manchester United draw

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked unhappy with Manchester United’s 2-2 draw at Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

In a vacuum, a draw at King Power Stadium is not a bad result at all. Leicester City has looked like the top four contenders since Brendan Rodgers took office. But considering how the game played out today, Manchester United is sure to be a bit disappointed to come out with just one lone point.

The Red Devils took the lead twice, but then quickly conceded both times. And it was the way they let in both goals that seemed to disappoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the most.

As reported by the Express, the Manchester United manager said:

“Both targets should have been closed faster.

“The first goal, definitely, the second also, from the side, we should have managed to stop the center.

“You always look at the conceded goals that we could, we should have done better.”

Defense appears to be United’s Achilles heel right now. They are scoring enough goals in the future, but unfortunately, they also have leaks in the back. So while it’s enough to get a result against most teams, the best teams have a definite weakness to target.

The first goal was very avoidable. Harry Maguire cleared it up in an unconventional way, but it eventually got to Bruno Fernandes. For all his future brilliance, the Portuguese international fumbled cheaply trying to put the nutmeg on a Leicester City player. And that was enough for Harvey Barnes to find some space and launch an absolute rocket past David de Gea.

The second one wasn’t that bad, but maybe it should have been fixed as well. Leicester found space on the right flank and put in a cross that had a serious pace. Vardy didn’t even connect with him properly and was heading wide, but Tuanzebe’s deflection meant he ended up at the back of United’s net. In fairness to the defender, he didn’t have enough reaction time to do anything else.

But still, mistakes are mistakes. And Solskjaer’s need to clear things up at the rear if they want to seriously challenge the title.
