KwaZulu-Natal Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala has promised that there is nothing wrong with changes to his cabinet, adding that the move is solely to strengthen governance and service delivery.
On Tuesday, the KwaZulu-Natal government moved the former MEC for economic development Nomusa Dube-Ncube to the finance portfolio, while the MEC Ravi Pillay, who previously led finance, was transferred to economic development, tourism and environmental issues.
Zikalala said that this move, which was done in consultation with the ANC, was made to speed up the government’s work.
“We want to make sure we structure an aligned government operation. Consequently, a person is deployed and must be deployed in an area where they have experience and can ensure deployment on time and in an aggressive manner, ”he said.
When asked why Dube-Ncube was not deployed to fund early and Pillay to economic development, Zikalala said the government’s priority at the time was to manage the transition in a way that did not disrupt the work of each department to not destabilize the government.
