An accident in the Northwest killed seven people.
Vryburg police are investigating a wrongful death case after a frontal collision resulted in seven deaths, including a 3-month-old baby.
North West Police spokeswoman Lt. Col. Adele Myburgh said the incident occurred at 1:00 p.m. Saturday on the highway between Ganyesa and Vryburg.
Myburgh said the two vehicles, an Audi Q4 and a Volkswagen Polo, caught fire and three people passing by managed to get some passengers, including the baby, out of the vehicles.

Unfortunately, flames began to engulf the vehicles, causing four people to be burned beyond recognition and people who bystanders tried to rescue were also declared dead, except for the baby’s mother, Myburgh said.
“We have a total of seven people who died at the scene, of which three I can confirm [are] females and four, we don’t know yet.
“Then there was a woman who survived. She and her three-month-old baby were taken to a local hospital, unfortunately, [on] Upon arrival at the hospital, the three-month-old baby passed away. So we only have one survivor. The woman who survived is 29 years old, “Myburgh said.
