“We are a family that has friends who understood our pain of always being deprived of opportunities.
“It was a commercial agreement to say: ‘Look, we want to enter the space and you are inside and they take me from pillar to post to enter [it]. They said, ‘Look, we’re going to help you because you have this offer that you’ve made,’ ”Mokonyane said.
When asked if the arrangement was contained in a document, Mokonyane stuttered and argued that it would have been between the trio.
He did not ask if the arrangement was a loan or not.
“My opinion is that if we reach the agreement with Eskom, finally, surely, they will be invited to be part of it. We will have to pay him back if this goes nowhere, ”Mokonyane replied.
While Mokonyane’s appearance on the commission was expected to revolve around her relationship with Bosasa, she questioned what sparked the commission’s “curiosity”.
“You will recall that Mr. Agrizzi said that Gavin Watson paid him sums of cash, and now he has a car that costs more than R3m and there is a deposit of R2m. We needed to investigate where you got the money from, ”argued Notshe.
The commission will resume its public hearings on Friday.
