New twist in the Thiago / Wijnaldum saga sees Koeman in the fight with the Barça hierarchy

Right now, if we had to bet, we’d bet that Gini Wijnaldum stays at Liverpool and Thiago stays at Bayern Munich.

But many things can and will certainly change in the last month of the transfer window.

According to Tobi Altschaffl, who is a reporter for Bild, Barcelona’s new coach, Ronald Koeman, is desperate for Wijnaldum, who played for him in the Dutch national team, to sign, but the Barça board is more willing to bring Thiago from Germany after he left the Camp Nou seven years ago.

It sounds exactly like the kind of thing the Barcelona hierarchy would do, to be fair, immediately undermining their new manager!

So we wouldn’t be one bit surprised if this were true.

There has been a lot of talk about Liverpool selling Gini for £ 15 million, but James Pearce rejected this suggestion last night.

We are pretty confident that Wijnaldum will start the campaign in Klopp’s midfield.
