The feature, which will launch for all Android devices, is designed so that all of you with thick fingers don’t accidentally hit the pause button when turning around in bed without acting like a sensible person and just hanging up the phone before getting comfortable.

Okay, maybe the thick toes was a little rude. In our defense, we also have thick fingers! It is a side effect of sitting all day playing with gadgets and computers. So when we crawl into bed at night and launch a series of Netflix on our Android tablet for a nice night view, we’ve often accidentally skipped 30 seconds in Ozark and I lost a nugget of very important information. It can be frustrating, we know that. Fortunately we won’t have to worry too much about that in the future, as Android versions of Netflix will now have a “screen lock” feature.

Originally informed by 9to5GoogleThe option to lock the screen will now appear on the bottom left of your device when you start watching a show on Netflix. When you touch the option, the “play” and “pause” buttons will be disabled so you don’t have to worry about mistakenly touching the pause button in the middle of a very dramatic action scene in Breaking Bad.

Now, The edge It has confirmed that Android system gestures still apply even when screen lock has been enabled, so it is still not a perfect system, but it is a step in the right direction, albeit for peace of mind to watch Netflix before bed.
