Netflix decides to cancel Idris Elba’s sitcom

Idris Elba’s sitcom has been canceled by Netflix only after one series, according to multiple reports.

The actor played a DJ and a male babysitter in “Turn Up Charlie.”

The actor had reportedly been working on ideas for a second season of “Turn Up Charlie”, but “Netflix and Idris just didn’t agree.”

Citing a source, the Sunday Mirror newspaper reported: “Idris hoped to launch a second season and was even working on new ideas, but couldn’t get it to work.”

The cancellation is a surprise because the actor recently revealed that he was excited about the second season.

“It is very exciting. I am involved with the creation of the script, which is primarily sowing stories. But once again, the scripts have taken on a life of their own.

“There are characters that have their own narrative threads now. And that’s good, that’s healthy,” he said.

The actor, who co-created the eight-episode series, revealed that he had worked hard to convince Netflix that it could be fun.
