On Monday, sources close to the investigation told TimesLIVE that detectives were investigating various matters Khanyile was involved in and possible links to his murder.
“These include the corruption cases he was facing. It is too much of a coincidence. He was due in court in a couple of weeks. He also had another huge corruption investigation pending on him.
“Certain information has come to light regarding the court case and a corruption report that was to be published. One of the possibilities being investigated is that the murder was to silence Khanyile, ”said a source.
The source said detectives were looking for CCTV footage from various cameras in the area to try to identify the killers.
Gauteng police spokesman Brig Mathapelo Peters declined to comment when asked about possible motives being investigated in relation to Khanyile’s murder.

Peters said police had launched a search for the suspects, whose identities and whereabouts were unknown.
