According to a statement Monday from Western Cape Hawks spokeswoman Philani Nkwalase, a multidisciplinary team, led by the Hawks, along with criminal intelligence, provincial detectives and anti-gang units were “caught in the investigation.”
“No arrest [has been made] at this stage, but our joint team is working around the clock to ensure the arrest of the killers, “Nkwalase said.
It did not confirm or deny the existence of the images, and said it could not reveal anything related to the video at this stage “as it is part of the ongoing investigation.”
“We can safely say that the police are following all possible leads,” Nkwalase added.
News24 reported on Sunday that a reward of one million rand had been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for organizing the murder of the anti-gang detective.
Forensics for Justice, led by forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan, offered the reward Sunday in a WhatsApp message.
Kinnear was shot and killed outside his home in Bishop Lavis in Cape Town on Friday.
His murder was suspected of being murder. However, the police had not confirmed this and would not speculate on the possible motive for the murder, News24 reported.
