JOHANNESBURG – While the interim leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga, faces allegations of sexual harassment by a colleague, the party’s national protection officer, Natasha Mazzone, said Thursday that she had not communicated. with Nkele Molapo because he did not want to “harm the criminal open complaint with the police.”
Mazzone said Molapo never approached his office to outline the serious allegations against Msimanga.
He also insisted that the Gauteng leader and the former mayor of Tshwane enjoyed the protection of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
Molapo recalled a specific day that Msimanga drove his home after a debate in Pretoria a few years ago. She claimed that he prevented her from getting out of his car and touched her inappropriately, while she canceled it by saying no.
Molapo further claimed that more women had come forward telling him how they too had been through the same treatment.
Mazzone said Msimanga gave him proof why he believes he is innocent.
“I can show you numerous Facebook posts where one Facebook post actually has a photo of Msimanga on his timeline where he calls it his ‘Monday man accident’ and the visual appeal of the day of 2016 and many others. posts of the same kind, “said Mazzone.
He said there was not enough time to side with Molapo, since a few days later he withdrew his internal complaint.
He didn’t file a complaint with me on a Saturday. I have to receive the complaint, look at it [and] do an initial investigation on the complaint. If that complaint is withdrawn on a Wednesday, I don’t even have time to communicate with her because I also have Msimanga, who approached me and gave me a complete and detailed summary of her complaint, “he said.
Msimanga filed a criminal injury lawsuit against Molapo and denied all allegations.
