Early Monday, the ANC said it suspended the defendants.

The acting president of the ANC in Mpumalanga, Mandla Ndlovu, said that the ANC officials in the province met and decided that he should resign from his position in the ANC, given the seriousness of the charges.

The ANC named him in a statement, although he cannot be identified to protect the identity of the alleged victims.
