Sundowns Mamelodi coach Pitso mosimane says he warned his players about Baroque Fixed dexterity, but added that he is not interested in making excuses.

The Brazilians had an excellent opportunity to occupy the first place in the Absa Premiership from Kaizer Chiefs, following their 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits.

However, Chloorkop’s team conceded a set piece from Baroka on Sunday and lost by a 1-0 margin.

“What can I say, a mistake we were punished there, we did not score in the area and a free header there, it is incredible,” Mosimane was quoted as saying by Times Live.

“I warned them a few days ago and I told them ‘you have defended from set pieces in the (Caf) Champions League.’ I want to say that it has been a long time since we fit straight from a corner. And I told them to say don ‘Don’t underestimate them because too they are big.

“I said if we can work hard on the corners and set pieces against a team that is very strong in set pieces in the league, who have scored about 24 or 25 goals in set pieces.”

Mosimane also wanted to make it clear that he will not make excuses for his team’s performance because they took no chances and failed to deal with Baroka’s corner kick in the 20th minute.

“You see when football happens and the results don’t go well, I’m the type that doesn’t want to make excuses why we didn’t win. We didn’t win because we didn’t take advantage of our opportunities. We didn’t win because we didn’t score in the area from a corner,” he added. Mosimane.

“Whether or not they knew the results (of the Chiefs game), hindsight is the best to be honest. We can always talk about it, but I don’t know if it changed their mood or not.

“I can’t be going through the players ‘phones and digging through all the players’ phones and saying they shouldn’t know what happened. They also have a great interest in knowing what happened. So I don’t like to make excuses because we lost.”
