The Downs strategist has been arguably the busiest PSL coach on the transfer market and says he is preparing for life without his aging players.
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says his way of handling transfer matters by combining experienced players with young blood is similar to that of Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.
Sundowns has arguably been the most active club in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in terms of player acquisition thus far in this transfer period.
Mosimane has signed goalkeeper Ricardo Goss and midfielder Haashim Domingo from Bidvest Wits, while former Black Leopards forward Lesedi Kapinga has signed alongside Grant Margeman from Ajax Cape Town.
Additionally, the Highlands Park duo of Mothobi Mvala and the league’s top scorer Peter Shalulile are also on their way to Chloorkop.
With players like captain Hlompho Kekana, goalkeepers Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene, forward Anthony Laffor and defender Wayne Arendse all 35 years old, Mosimane says he’s gearing up for his departure.
Other Sundowns players in their 30s include new signing George Maluleka, who came from rivals Kaizer Chiefs, Andile Jali, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento.

Even though skipper Kekana was 35 years old, Sundowns rewarded him with a four-year contract earlier this year and Mosimane also insisted on playing as their captain towards the end of the PSL campaign.
