More than 2,000 people were arrested in Limpopo.

Approximately 2,015 suspects have been arrested in Limpopo for violating Lockdown Level 3 regulations and for various crimes during the holiday season.

The police also seized firearms, drugs and liquor during their operations, which began on December 28 through Monday.

The various charges that detainees face are: rape, possession of stolen vehicles, possession and trafficking of drugs and illicit cigarettes, sale of fireworks without permission, murder, attempted murder, robbery, robbery, assault on police, assault with intent inflicting bodily harm, malicious damage to property, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, stock theft, possession of allegedly stolen property, illegal gambling, public alcohol consumption, common theft, armed robbery, theft in stores and driving under the influence of liquor.

Police spokesman Lt. Col. Mamphaswa Seabi said all of the suspects, aged 29 to 69, are expected to appear in court soon.
