More PS5 reserve stock coming to South Africa

South African retailer Koodoo has announced that the next wave of PlayStation 5 (PS5) stock is heading to South Africa for pre-orders.

While PS5 pre-orders have been open for some time, stocks were quickly depleted from local vendors. This new stock gives local enthusiasts another chance to pre-order Sony’s next-gen console.

However, there is a problem: the expected delivery dates for this new stock of pre-orders are December 16-20. This means that customers will likely receive their consoles long after their local release date.

The PS5 will launch locally on November 19. The global launch of the console is scheduled for November 12.

According to Koodoo, the new wave of pre-orders will go live on November 13 at 8 a.m. on its website.

Despite the pandemic, demand for next-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles has been high, with several countries experiencing delays and limited stocks.

To avoid queues on launch day, Sony has even said that no PS5 consoles will be sold in the store.

Burn Media contacted local Sony Interactive Entertainment distributors to find out if this would apply locally as well. However, at the time of writing, details were still being confirmed with retailers.

In South Africa, the standard PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will have a RRP of R11 999.99. Meanwhile, the PS5 digital edition has a suggested retail price of R9 999.99.
