The Hawks have confirmed they have three warrants for the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leader, Shepherd Bushiri, for rape.
This affair comes in the middle of Bushiri’s escape to Malawi when he fled South Africa with his wife Mary after posting bail. They face charges of fraud, theft and money laundering in the amount of R102 million, and were granted a bond of R200,000 each.
According to Hawks spokesman Katlego Mogale, the arrest warrants were cleared by the Pretoria Magistrates Court last week on November 19.
The arrest warrants relate to alleged rape cases dating back to 2018 and 2020, Mogale confirmed.

Police had confirmed in an interview that they were investigating the rape allegations against Bushiri.
However, Bushiri denied the claims, saying: “This has been done together with members of the media. This woman comes and demands money from us. The alleged victims come and ask us for money. Shameless journalists also demand money from us ”.
She said that for the past three years a Hawks officer had been running an “extortion syndicate” against her and “sending girls to demand money from us and if we don’t give, she told the girls to go public and accuse us. to rape “. they”.

Bushiri claimed that he had reported the matter to various law enforcement agencies, but that “no action was taken.”
The ECG church leader further said the women demanded money from him to prevent them from telling their stories to eNCA.
