JOHANNESBURG – Nomvula Mokonyane’s personal assistant, Sandy Thomas, has concurred with the former minister’s testimony that the food packages received from Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson were made for the needy in Katlehong and not to benefit Mokonyane.
Former Bosasa operations chief Angelo Agrizzi told the investigation during his testimony that he and Watson arranged food, money, and car rental services for the former minister, including security improvements to his home.
He alleged that these were favors to the company to avoid prosecution for corrupt activities.
Thomas has also told the commission that the security improvements were made by the prime minister’s office and not Bosasa.
“The first point of contact was when they told me that they should do an evaluation, that they should visit the house to see what they should do; what to install and what to repair ”.
Thomas has worked for Mokonyane for almost twenty years and now works at Luthuli House.
Mokonyane has denied the allegations, insisting that she is being targeted because she is a woman.
