Northwest Prime Minister Job Mokgoro has distanced himself from the leader of the Church of Enlightened Christians (ECG), Pastor Bushiri, after being seen with the prophet handing out packages of food on Tuesday.
Together with the Sibanye-Stillwater mining company, Mokgoro delivered food packages to people in Rustenberg as relief during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking about Power 987, Mokgoro said that he did not know that the prophet was also going to be present.
“I went to join the MEC. I was receiving food packages from Sibanye and just as we are about to finish, there was another benefactor who was delivering food packages and it turned out to be this gentleman.
“It was never part of my program. As this benefactor (Bushiri) was delivering food packages, there was little I could do, but just receiving and delivering the packages was not premeditated or planned from my office, ”he said.
Bushiri shared a photo with the Prime Minister on his Instagram saying: “My wife and I were honored to join with the North West Prime Minister, senior ANC members and four MECs as we continue our charity programs in South Africa in the wake of Covid- 19 “.
The prophet reportedly delivered more than 100 food packages in the northwest, as his church had been distributing food packages and donating money for aid in various provinces since March.
