Mlamleli case is politically motivated, supporters say ahead of court appearance

JOHANNESBURG – Members of the African National Congress (ANC) have already gathered this morning in front of the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court to support the ousted mayor of Mangaung, Olly Mlamleli.
She is among the seven suspects expected to appear in court for the 255 million rand Free State asbestos contract.
A strong police presence has also been deployed.
Corruption is a source of deep divisions in the ANC Free State and society as a whole
From this asbestos contract case to the R1.4 billion housing project and the Vrede dairy farm, ordinary citizens have borne the brunt of irregular and unsuccessful expenses.
Malefu Mofokeng, a member of the ANC, said it was no secret that corruption in the ANC was deeply entrenched.
“Supporting Comrade Olly Mlamleli as the leader of the ANC. We believe that she is not a criminal and that her case is politically motivated. There are so many senior ANC leaders allegedly involved in corruption, but the judiciary has never dated them.”
The seven suspects are expected to appear in court at 10 a.m.
