Mkhonto We Sizwe Veterans Target ANC Offices Demanding Removal of Corrupt ANC Members – The Citizen

Some disgruntled members of the Umkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans (MKMVA) have gathered outside the ANC’s provincial offices in KwaZulu-Natal to protest against alleged corruption within the party.

MKMVA’s Zibuse Cele said the picket was the result of behavior by the ANC, which saw fully trained MKMVA officers unable to find employment.

Cele said the party requested officers under the age of 35, which proved challenging as most of the MKMVA members were obviously over 35 years old.

Addressing the protesters, MKMVA’s Dumisani Thango said that their demands should be addressed by senior members of the ANC.

They also, for some reason, demanded answers on other matters, such as the inability of the police to arrest Senzo Meyiwa’s killers.

“Even now, someone died, Meyiwa died while people were in the same house, and yet no one has been arrested.”

Dozens of police officers responded to the scene, while ANC spokesman Nhlakanipho Ntombela says the party has been engaging with MKMVA representatives who had apparently chosen to continue demonstrating despite ongoing commitments.

“We have listened to you since Wednesday. We have indicated that some issues merited the participation of the ANC, while others were outside the purview of the party.

“What we disagree on is how things are going.”

He noted that no way forward could be reached on the issues raised by protesters as members picketed a march.

Other organizations like the Unemployed Graduates also joined the picket line to highlight some of the challenges graduates face.

Holding banners that say: We are fed up! the time to talk is over, the organization says there were policies in the government that excluded blacks.

This follows an alleged voice memo on social media that circulated this week threatening to block roads around KwaZulu-Natal. The call for a picket called for the ANC to take steps to remove corrupt officials.
