Mitchell, the New Zealander SUV, fined for swearing

New Zealand all terrain Daryl Mitchell he was fined 15 percent of his match fee for swearing during his first test win over the West Indies at Hamilton.

“Mitchell used inappropriate language while Jason Holder was running between the grounds and very close to him,” the International Cricket Council said in a statement issued Sunday night after New Zealand concluded the event with one inning and 134 runs.

Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to the charge, also had a point of demerit added to his record.

Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the penalty after outfield officials Chris Gaffaney and Wayne Knights and TV referee Chris Brown took over.

The second and final round of the series begins in Wellington on Friday.
