Durban – The body of Clare Estate resident Vishnu Naidoo was found in Durban’s financial district two days after he disappeared.

Police spokesman Colonel Thembeka Mbele said a 65-year-old man was found dead in an apartment in OR Tambo at 3:30 pm on Sunday.

They said Naidoo had left home around noon and was expected to make a stop at the Pavilion Mall in Westville and Makro in Springfield Park, but had not returned.

Prem Balram of Reaction Unit SA said his helicopter was used to conduct an aerial search of Naidoo.

“However, the search was suspended due to poor visibility and rain.”

He confirmed that the body was not found.

Azeem Mahomed of Stealth Tactical Response on the Clare Estate said they worked around the clock to find Naidoo.

“He lived in the area and the family approached us to help and after following the leads, his body was found on Sunday.”

There was a lot of confusion on Sunday as to which Vishnu Naidoo was missing.

Coincidentally, a spokesman for the national police shares the same name and surname as the victim.
