Michael Owen responds when asked if Man United can win the title

Michael Owen says Manchester United will be able to fight for the Premier League title this season as long as they can keep Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes on their squad.

The Red Devils rose to sixth place in the Premier League table on Thursday night thanks to a 3-2 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Goals by Marcus Rashford (2) and Anthony Martial closed the three points for the visitors and left the Red Devils just five points behind leaders Liverpool FC with one game less

If Manchester United win the game they have over most of their rivals, they will be only two points behind the top of the table.

Since the Red Devils have been in good domestic shape recently, they have been told that they can compete for the title this season.

Owen, a former Manchester United star, believes the Red Devils could be one of many contenders for the top flight crown this season.

When asked if they can win the title this season, Owen said in Amazon Prime Video: “Well, they can (win the league). There are some teams that can.

“The only way they can is to get their best players onto the field.

“If you have Pogba and Fernandes in your team, you cannot win the title if they are in the stands. You have these amazing players you have spent millions on, the only way to win the title is with your best players playing.

“If you eliminate two or three, then they are a good team. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to keep finding a way to get Pogba, Fernandes and Rashford to play together; it’s amazing how they haven’t kept them together. “

Manchester United host Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday in their last top flight match before Christmas.
