Michael Owen believes that Edinson Cavani will end up being an excellent signing for Manchester United, but fears that he will not receive the service he deserves.
The Uruguayan international has been settling in at Old Trafford after signing for the Red Devils in a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
Cavani scored his first goal for Manchester United on Saturday afternoon when he came off the bench to shoot home from close range in a 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
The 33-year-old hopes to continue in good form with Manchester United in the weeks and months to come as he tries to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men climb the Premier League table.
Owen, a former Liverpool FC and Manchester United star, is a huge Cavani fan, but feels he may not receive as much service as he would have on previous Red Devils teams.
In an interview quoted by Metro, Owen said: “Manchester United of yesteryear would have scored hundreds of goals for those teams.
“Now, are you going to put a lot of crosses in the box and scraps that you take advantage of?
“He is a very good signing, I just hope he gets the ammunition to fire the bullets.”
Manchester United, who finished third in the top flight last season, will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
