The Venezuelan player parted ways with the Brazilians last week after the new coaching team deemed him exceeding the requirements.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder José Ali Meza has officially joined Maritzburg United.

According to the Midlands-based team, Meza has signed a two-year contract, which means he will be with Maritzburg until June 2020.

The Venezuelan arrives at the Team of Choice after spending two seasons at the Mamelodi Sundowns where he scored just one league goal during his time at the club.

“Welcome, José Alí Meza has signed a two-year contract with the Team of Choice,” the club announced on social media.

Meza is one of coach Eric Tinkler’s priorities, as the former Orlando Pirates coach also brought in Riyaaz Ismail and Sibusiso Hlubi.

Hlubi is a winger who comes to the club from the city of Polokwane, while midfielder Riyaaz comes from the Real Kings of the GladAfrica Championship.

Tinker is satisfied with his transfer business as he looks to improve by finishing seventh in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings last season.

“We are excited about the next season. We started off with an exciting match against Chiefs on MTN8. I have confidence in the head coach and the technical team, “said Tinkler.

Club president Farook Kadodia is pleased with the transfers he has made as Phumlani Ntshagase’s move has become a permanent contract for the Orlando Pirates.

“We have the fourth largest viewer support in the country. We thank the fans for making our story a success, ”Kadodia said according to the club’s website.

“We would like to warmly welcome Sibusiso Hlubi, Jose Meza and Riyaaz Ismail to the chosen city, and we are very happy that Phumlani Ntshangase has decided to extend his stay at our club.

“Soccer is an ever-evolving sport and a crucial element in doing so is staying on top of matters in the transfer market, identifying areas that need to be strengthened and getting relevant players involved.”

“In this regard, we are very satisfied with the business that has been carried out and we are confident that the new players will add a lot of value to our team. With a mix of experience and hungry young talent, we are optimistic about the latest arrivals at our club and look forward to a successful campaign. “
