Meghan Markle’s legal fees for her privacy case in Superior Court could cost more than $ 2 million, according to the report.
Jessie Bowhill, who represents the Duchess, reportedly revealed: “Total total cost figures are £ 1,798,043.57 ($ 2,306,521.30) for the plaintiff and £ 1,230,425 ($ 1,577,963.46) for the accused “.
Jessie was reported to have said: “Overall, £ 1.8 million is a reasonable and proportionate amount for a seven to ten day judgment in High Court in a case involving private information, personal data and intellectual property rights of an individual high profile. “
Meghan is suing a news outlet for articles that included parts of a “private and confidential” letter from the Duchess to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in 2019.
On Monday, the Duchess’s attorneys denied that she “collaborated” with authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand for her actual Finding Freedom biography.
At the hearing, the outlet requested permission to amend its written defense to Meghan’s claim to argue that she “cooperated with the authors of the recently published book Finding Freedom to publish their version of certain events.”
