Meghan Markle is said to have split from the British royal family with Prince Harry due to the ‘lack of power’ the monarchy had.
Royal expert Penny Junor claimed that the Duchess of Sussex might not have accurately measured the power of the royal family as she had hoped to use her royal stature for creative change, but was disappointed.
Talking to QuickJunor said: “I would have thought that part of the appeal of marrying Harry might have been having a platform for his activism.”
“But I think probably what she found when she came to the Royal Family was that she couldn’t be as active as she wanted to be,” she said.
“She couldn’t be as frank as she wanted. The Royal Family doesn’t operate that way, they don’t use their position to make changes, ”he continued.
“They use it to highlight issues and support issues, but not to drive change. They are not as powerful as she thought they were, ”he added.
