As Megxit changed the course of royal history, royal pundits and commentators feel that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle completely underestimated all the complexities.
Harry and Meghan reportedly were of the opinion that they could negotiate their royal extraction by email just three months in advance, all to Prince Charles. In hindsight, “They oversimplified what they were asking for.”
The courtier spoke to the authors of Find freedom on the matter and went on to say: “They thought they would give Charles his rider, negotiate by email, go to London, give three months’ notice and fly back to Canada.”
Not only that, the Queen had allegedly asked the duo not to speak about their negotiations until everything was amicably resolved. However, their impatience got the better of them and ended up ‘hurting’ their future prospects in the eyes of the British public.
One of the most frequent problems regarding the whole affair was the need for financial freedom and the alleged downfall of the couple.
While Prince Harry and Meghan told the monarchy that they no longer wish to rely on sovereign grant, those comments seemed unrealistic at the time. After all, it was one thing to say, it was “quite another thing to follow.”
Taxes were another problem as well, and royalty wondered how the tax relief system would work for Harry and Meghan, should they decide to split their time between the monarchy and personal projects. Some aspects to consider in that scenario would have been the costs of office, clothing, security, etc.
An exhausted helper feels they had “created a complete headache for everyone” and as a result, “a lot of ill will” began to brew within the royal family, especially in regards to the couple’s website.
A senior aide who works for Buckingham Palace said Find freedom authors, “Harry and Meghan would have reached a more beneficial agreement that would allow them to live the life they wanted if they had handled things in a private and dignified way.”
