Munshi was shot and killed Wednesday in Orange Grove in Johannesburg in an apparent targeted killing.

Munshi and Professor Peter Beale were tried for wrongful death after their young patient passed away last year from complications.

Friends and colleagues gathered outside Munshi’s home on Thursday.

“We want to protest what we assume is the murder of our colleague and we protest the lack of the rule of law in our country and the people and that people can take the law into their own hands and not abide by the justice system and obtain justice that way, “said Dr. Lindy Sinclare.

Munshi’s devastated family has welcomed the support and messages of condolences.

It is understood that a blue Mercedes-Benz, without license plates, collided with the rear of Munshi’s car.

When he got out of the vehicle to inspect the damage, he was shot several times. He died at the scene.

There has been widespread speculation that the murder could be related to Munshi’s criminal trial, but police say the motive has not been established.

It is understood that Munshi’s co-defendant has been taken to a safe house.
