The Randburg Magistrates Court has granted the media permission to record and cover the assault trial of EFF leader Julius Malema and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.
The Randburg Magistrates Court has granted access to the media to record and photograph the assault trial of EFF leader Julius Malema and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.
The assault trial, which began Tuesday, was delayed after media requests to cover the case were considered on the second day of the trial.
But the court announced Wednesday that certain media houses were allowed to record the proceedings only under strict regulations.
Jacaranda FM was awarded to be the primary radio station for audio recording and Newzroom Afrika would be the primary media house for recording the proceedings without live broadcast and all material should be available to other media houses.
The trial would resume on October 28 and 29.

Malema and Ndlozi face assault charges after they allegedly assaulted a police officer at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral.
The couple have denied the assault. Speaking out of court on Tuesday, he argued that court proceedings should be recorded on camera.
“[The court proceedings] everyone should be covered, we want to make them famous, everyone should be covered here. “
“It is not just us who should be covered here. The magistrate cannot say there are no cameras [Tuesday’s] process because it is a white man who gives testimony ”, said Malema.
