JOHANNESBURG – Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said he was impressed by the measures being implemented in Gautrain as limited operations resume.

Mbalula is at the Hatfield station on Monday morning for a supervisory inspection of the state of readiness of the transport service.

The transport minister spent the morning reviewing what is being implemented at the Gautrain station to ensure that operations are resumed and passenger safety is guaranteed.

An electronic health scanner takes travelers’ temperatures before they enter the station.

Workers disinfect train cars, corridor walls, and car scanners before each train leaves the station.

Office hours will be shortly after 5 a.m. at 9.30 a.m. and then again from 3 p.m. at 7 p.m.

“AWESOME WORK”

Mbalula explained that social distancing markers, electronic health scanners, and frequent disinfection would help keep Gautrain travelers safe.

He said he was pleased with the measures being implemented to keep Gautrain travelers safe: “They have disinfectants when they enter the cabin, but beyond the trains they are disinfected. It is an impressive job. “

He arrived at Hatfield station on Monday morning to inspect buses, ferries, and rail cars as train services resume.

Electronic health scanners read travelers’ thermal temperatures and spray them with disinfectant, which lasts about an hour.

The train’s operating hours are 5 a.m. at 12 a.m. and after 3 p.m. at 7 p.m.
