Mbalula announces grace period for driver’s licenses expiring on March 26

Transportation Department spokeswoman Ayanda Allie-Paine said: “There was an avalanche of people trying to renew their documentation and we also had a stop-and-go phenomenon because whenever there was a positive case, we had to shut down operations.”

CAPE TOWN: Driver’s license testing centers are not dealing with the delay created by the COVID-19 shutdown.

For this reason, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula announced on Friday a grace period for driver’s licenses that expired from March 26.

Licenses that expire between that date and December 31 are automatically valid until the end of August of next year.

Transportation Department spokeswoman Ayanda Allie-Paine said: “There was an avalanche of people trying to renew their documentation and we also had a stop-and-go phenomenon because whenever there was a positive case, we had to shut down operations.”
