JOHANNESBURG – The Kwazulu Natal Department of Education wants to get more involved with teacher unions on rewriting leaked tuition exams.
This, after the South African Union of Democratic Teachers (SADTU) announced its plan to file court papers challenging the rewriting on Monday.
Provincial MEC Kwazi Mshengu says he is confident that an agreement can be reached out of court.

The first national rewrite scheduled by the Department of Education follows the leaks of two articles. SADTU has called the department’s decision irrational.
Speaking to eNCA on Sunday, department spokesman Elijah Mhlanga said they expected legal resistance from the unions.
“It’s a situation that we plan for. Our legal teams are considering all the possibilities, in terms of what the department’s response is going to be,” he said.
