Tharina Human, the woman suspected of being the mastermind behind the abduction of six-year-old Amy’Leigh de Jager, intends to plead guilty.

This was confirmed by David Mey, his lawyer.

The 27-year-old RR teacher made a brief appearance in Gauteng Superior Court, sitting in Palm Ridge, on Tuesday morning.

Mey told TimesLIVE that Human would plead guilty after signing a plea and sentencing agreement with the state.

Mey said her co-defendant, Laetitia Nel, 40, also intended to plead guilty to some of the charges, but that her case would be heard before a separate judge because her attorney was expected to present evidence to mitigate her proposed sentence. the state.

The other two co-defendants, Bafokeng Molemohi, 24, and Pieter van Zyl, 50, are also expected to appear in the same court on Thursday.

The alleged kidnapping and ransom plan for the suspects was set in motion on September 2 last year when four men snatched R-grade student Angeline from her mother outside the gates of Laerskool Kollegepark.

They allegedly put Amy’Leigh in a white Toyota Fortuner and sped off. She was dropped off at Vanderbijlpark in the early hours of September 3 and was found by a couple on their way home from a neighborhood pub.

They escorted her to a nearby police station, where her parents were waiting, ending the drama of the kidnapping.

The human is the prime suspect. She was a school employee and taught Amy’Leigh’s brother Jayden, 5, in the RR grade. She was also “best friends” with Amy’Leigh’s mother.
