Manhunt released for Limpopo suspect who allegedly killed cop during police cell escape

Limpopo police launched a manhunt for a suspect after he allegedly killed a police officer and escaped from the police cell in which he was being held.

The inmate, who has been described as dangerous by the police, escaped from the Mutale police station on Friday around 4:30 pm.

The murdered police officer, a 57-year-old noncommissioned officer, is believed to have been routinely checking prisoners when the escape occurred.

“The deceased member routinely visited cells and was attacked by the suspect, who stabbed him multiple times. The suspect took the keys from the deceased and stole money from the safe before escaping,” said police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo .

The suspect was arrested on Friday in connection with a rape and kidnapping case. He was previously incarcerated for other crimes.

“Cases of murder, robbery and escape from legal custody have been opened. The police are asking Nyadzani Muvhuso to serve himself at the Mutale police station or any nearest police station, as it is believed that he will be able to assist in the investigations.” Mojapelo said. said.
