JOHANNESBURG – South African airline Mango said it is currently in talks with the SAA technician in a bid to keep its planes running.
The entire fleet of the airline could be grounded from midnight after it failed to pay the SAA subsidiary for maintenance services.
It is understood that SAA Technical, which provides aircraft maintenance to a large number of commercial airlines, decided to withdraw its services for non-payment.
Without their technical support services, including pre-flight inspections, Mango aircraft cannot fly.
But the airline’s Benediction Zubane assured customers that it will operate normally while negotiations continue.
“Mango can confirm that discussions are taking place between the technicians of Mango and SAA. We are operating normally and customers should check their flight status online.
