Manchester United working on ‘solid defense’ training – € 100m 22 years on the agenda

The Portuguese newspaper Record today has a little story about Barcelona’s interest in Benfica defender Ruben Dias.

The media only covers a couple of recent complaints from the Spanish press that the Catalan side is “insisting” on the 22-year-old’s signature.

However, Record has a bit to add, claiming that Barcelona should have Manchester United competition in this race.

In fact, they write that both the Red Devils and Manchester City follow Ruben Dias. But they give greater emphasis to the Old Trafford team, saying the club is “betting on building a solid defense.”

Record also makes it clear that it is not the intention of Benfica to let Ruben Dias leave so easily. They say that the defender is not “for sale”, and is currently protected by an exemption clause of 100 million euros, after the last extension of the contract agreed with the club.

Manchester United have been linked to Dias for years, so only a change in attitude would make the Red Devils finally go for the defender.
