Manchester United respond to Paul Pogba transfer rumors

As transfer rumors surrounding Paul Pogba mounted over the past week, Manchester United decided to take the opportunity to respond.

Paul Pogba is a player who cannot be left out of the news. For most of his career at Manchester United, he has been linked to a transfer out of the club. So far the move has not materialized, but with less than a year left on his contract, his departure might not take long. However, it should be noted that the Red Devils have the option to extend their stay for one year.

What Pogba has is that it is debatable that he never showed his best in the Manchester United jersey. Yes, there have been times when it has been seen as elite. But those have been few and far between. He has dominated the headlines more often for wanting to leave the club than for his performances.

And while this summer transfer window was rare, it brought no such news. He has hinted that he could be on the move soon by admitting that he would like to play for Real Madrid one day. Recent rumors have also linked him to a signing for FC Barcelona.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant that Pogba will not go anywhere as long as he has a contract with the Red Devils. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:

“Paul is our player. He’s going to be here another two years and I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best in Paul. I am sure that in the coming years we will get the best out of him. “

The downside of this is that there is no talk of an extension of the contract with the French. It seems Manchester United have given up hope in that regard and are only trying to hold on to it for the moment. On the bright side, Solskjaer pretty much confirms that they are about to extend their contract for another year.

That is to be expected, however, and the sensible thing for United to do would be to try to find a buyer in the transfer window next summer. Pogba remains one of the highest-rated midfielders in all of Europe and he shouldn’t be short of suitors if he’s available.

Letting go of your contract would not make sense. It would mean losing a lot of money. Money that can be used to bring in new signings and continue the rebuilding.
