Manchester United summer signing Amad Diallo has received a final verdict on where his future lies beyond the January transfer window.
Manchester United fans were bitterly disappointed when it emerged that the club’s summer transfer plan to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund had fallen apart.
In what was seen as a desperate attempt to salvage something positive from the summer transfer window, the Red Devils signed four players on the day of the deadline. One of them was Amad Diallo Traore, an 18-year-old winger who grew up in the Atalanta youth academy.
The raid cost United an initial transfer fee of € 21 million (£ 19 million) and another € 20 million (£ 18 million) in future add-ons. Although it was a closed deal, some difficulties obtaining a work permit meant the Côte d’Ivoire-born forward would have to wait until January to meet his new teammates.
The January transfer window is now open. And while everyone awaits the arrival of Amad Diallo, the Atalanta coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, is unexpectedly silent, revealed that the Italian club would like to have him on loan until June.
In the 2020-21 season, the youngster was only offered 35 minutes of senior football in two appearances, one in the Champions League and the other in Serie A.
However, all conversations aside, Fabrizio Romano made it clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Diallo to join the club as soon as possible.

Adding a little more substance to that respective claim, a Manchester Evening News correspondent in Rich fay tweeted:
“Currently United have no plans to allow Amad Diallo to return on loan to Atalanta. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks forward to welcoming him and wants to start the process of integrating the winger into the first team as soon as possible. “
Following Manchester United’s close 2-1 win over Aston Villa last Friday, Solskjaer insisted on how excited he is to finally welcome the star to Old Trafford. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, he said:
“We have had all the paperwork, I don’t see any obstacles. He’s coming. I hope you will be with us very soon. Very excited to have it inside. It will take time to develop. “
Solskjaer’s words should be enough to ignore Gasperini’s intentions. Now, the responsibility is on Diallo’s shoulders to restore the faith Manchester United has shown in him.
