Manchester United reportedly offered the defender a new contract even though he doesn’t present much for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer let Diogo Dalot go on loan for one season to AC Milan. Taking all possible circumstances into account, it was thought that he made that decision with the development of the Manchester United youth in mind.
The technician believed he had enough artillery in his ranks to cover Aaron Wan-Bissaka, his number one pick for the right back. However, all he had was Timothy Fosu-Mensah, the 22-year-old Dutchman who had barely been involved in club action since returning from his injury-ravaged loan spell with Fulham.
Fosu-Mensah, signed from the famed Ajax academy in 2014, made his full debut as a substitute in the 55th minute against Arsenal in 2016. Before joining Crystal Palace on loan in 2017, United’s new signing Donny van de Beek, made a long -extension of the contract until June 2020 with an option for one more year.
United went on to activate that additional one-year option last April, extending their stay at the club until June 2021.

As a Manchester Evening News report explains, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loves the Dutchman’s training attitude and the work he has done as second violin for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. In the 2019-20 season, he has made two appearances in all competitions.
For this reason, United’s management has already put a new contract on the table of the Dutch prodigy. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether he will put pen to paper or choose to practice his profession elsewhere.
Manchester United are going to face a formidable run of matches in both the Premier League and the Champions League. The Red Devils will face teams like PSG, Manchester City and RB Leipzig for the next two weeks.
If injuries or extreme fatigue, caused by the frantic match list, hit United’s right-back and push Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the bench or bench, Fosu-Mensah should be ready to fill the Englishman’s boots.
