United, fresh from a surprising 3-1 home loss to Crystal Palace, open their cup campaign at Kenilworth Road, but will do so by fielding a “weaker” team.

Dean Henderson is set to make his debut for the Red Devils between the sticks, while Mason Greenwood and Dan James are among the senior teams that could appear early on.

People like Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford have also traveled and are reportedly likely to see some action.

“We will make some changes,” Solskjaer said.

“Of course we will. For some, it’s preseason and for some, they’ve only been here a week for different reasons.

“Some of them need playtime, they need it and we can see that we lack sharpness. We just have to make the most of the training sessions and games that we have.

“There are no injuries, there are no new injuries after that game (on Saturday) but, as I said, we are going to rotate and give a few minutes.

“Some, after the game, will do a harder training this week to prepare for Brighton. Some will join the team and go down there. “

While a few star names could appear for United, Luton Town has nothing to fear as Nathan Jones’s men enter the game in good shape.

The Hatters have racked up the most points in their first two championship games, beating Barnsley and Derby County.
