Manchester United must find a way to use Fernandes and Van de Beek together

Manchester United have lost the first three league games of the season by an aggregate score of 11-4.

During these matches, when Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek were on the pitch at the same time, the score was 2-2.

It’s a much smaller sample size, but it highlights that it may be more valuable for United to get more out of Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek’s two starts in the Carabao Cup have resulted in victories for United.

This has helped him settle in, and with a goal and assist to his name, Van de Beek has shown that he has adapted quickly to English football and deserves more playing time.

United owes it to you. The Dutchman signed for £ 39 million this summer and is fresh.

Not using him as a Premier League starter was a mistake by Solsjkaer.

Van de Beek arrived fresh after resting from March onwards due to the Dutch league lockout and cancellation, and then had six friendly matches with Ajax in July and August to catch up, in addition to international matches.

Solskjaer left with Paul Pogba in his place, despite a busy schedule for him between July and August, and a coronavirus infection in early September. The results on the grass have not been good.

Play Fernandes and Van de Beek together

Including Van de Beek on the team has to be a priority now, but it has to be at Pogba’s expense and not Fernandes.

Fernandes has made way for Van de Beek in Carabao Cup matches, with Van de Beek assuming the role of attacking midfielder.

But there is no point in ruling out United’s best creative player, to whom the club has pledged a £ 67 million fee to sign again in January.

Solskjaer must find a way for both players to enter the field, be it in a midfield three or four.

Adjusting to a diamond could allow both players and Paul Pogba to enter the field together. It’s an option, but it doesn’t have to be. the option.

What Solskjaer needs is Van de Beek and Fernandes together on the field, with the formation almost secondary at this point.

It may take a bit of experimentation, but if United can find a way to get Van de Beek and Fernandes to play together regularly, the team as a whole and the results will be better.
