Manchester United linked to Ismaila Sarr’s movement

Manchester United is linked to a move by Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

Independent claims brokers on behalf of United have contacted Watford about Sarr.

The report claims that Watford wants £ 30 million for Sarr, a fee similar to what Rennes was paid last season.

A great talent

Sarr becomes an option for the descent of Watford. Had they survived, their price could have skyrocketed even more.

In his first season in the Premier League he showed his talents, helping Watford beat Liverpool with two goals in a surprising 3-0 victory.

He even scored against United at Vicarage Road, also earning a penalty from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, Sarr, 21, is very inconsistent. He finished the season with five goals and four assists.

Before earning his move to Watford, Sarr scored 13 times and provided 11 assists for Rennes in 2018/19.

Gary Neville is a fan

Speaking on his own podcast in July, Gary Neville recommended Sarr as a possible signing.

Neville said: “Manchester United need a right winger. He’s a great, great talent, honestly, he really is. They’ll look it up and Watford, I’m sure, will charge if they get the right offer.

“I always think, especially as a band player, what would I not have wanted to play against? The first thing is the rhythm. And then you have to think, can he use his rhythm?

“Well, yes he can, because he does very good quality runs: the spin back, straight, but also the inward race between the winger and the center back, which I always think is the most difficult to score.”

Something for United to think about

When agents are involved, you immediately suspect if United is really interested or if it is being used.

However, taking this at face value, it would appear that United is doing due diligence on possible alternatives to Jadon Sancho.

Sarr isn’t Sancho, but for a fraction of the price, he gives United something to think about if a much more expensive deal is not possible for the Dortmund winger.

At just £ 30 million, Sarr would be an interesting addition, if his low price also allows United to sign another pair of players.

On its own, it would feel like a disappointing finish to the window, whether it’s fair to him or not.
