Wales coach and Manchester United are great Ryan giggs he has been arrested on suspicion of assault, according to UK newspaper reports on Monday night.
The Football Association of Wales issued a statement saying: “The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the head of the national team, Ryan Giggs. The FAW will not comment further at this time.”
Sun The newspaper said police were called to the home of Giggs, 46, Sunday night after reports of a riot.
Giggs was arrested and questioned on suspicion of assault and actual bodily harm, the newspaper said.
The Sun cited a statement from Greater Manchester Police as saying: “Police were called at 10.05pm Sunday to report a disturbance. A woman in her 30s suffered minor injuries but did not require any treatment.”
“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and common section 39 assault.”
Wales canceled Tuesday’s press conference when Giggs was scheduled to name his team for the friendly against the United States and the Nations League matches with the Republic of Ireland and Finland later this month.
Giggs was named Wales coach in January 2018 after a stellar career in which he won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups with Manchester United, and was capped 64 times for Wales.
