Manchester United interested in RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano
According to ESPN, Manchester United is interested in RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano.
The Frenchman has been identified by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to reinforce his defense. The Red Devils are getting closer to converting Ajax Amsterdam star Donny van de Beek in his first transfer of the summer.
With the Jadon Sancho deal coming to a standstill, United are now turning their attention elsewhere.
At the top of the list is a center back from fellow patron Harry Maguire. Upamecano, despite being only 21 years old, continues to enhance his reputation as one of the best in the business.
The 21-year-old was one of Leipzig’s leading figures, reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Upamecano’s agreement with the Germans runs until 2023. According to the report, it includes a release clause of 42 million euros, which can be activated at the end of the 2020-21 season.
However, Solskajer is not willing to wait and wants to sign the player in this window. There is a real belief from the unleashed end that a deal can be reached before the window closes on October 5.

United also hope to shed several of their defenders this summer. People like Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are heading for the starting gate at Old Trafford.
